BranchLite Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 3, 2026
Last Updated: September 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how This Family Love LLC (“This Family Love,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use BranchLite, including BranchLite Gather and other websites, applications, tools, features, and services offered under the BranchLite name (collectively, the “BranchLite Services”).

BranchLite is a family-connection platform designed to help people visualize, explore, create, and share family connections. Different BranchLite Services may have different features. For example, certain Services may allow multiple people to contribute information to a shared family connection tree, while other current or future BranchLite Services may operate differently.

We believe family information deserves thoughtful treatment. We seek to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide and improve the BranchLite Services.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on which BranchLite Service you use and how you use it.

Information You or Other Users Provide

Certain BranchLite Services may allow users to provide information such as:

  • Names, nicknames, or display names;

  • Photographs or images;

  • Family relationships and connections;

  • Family tree or family-connection information;

  • Dates or other biographical information that users choose to provide;

  • Tree, session, event, or project names;

  • Host or organizer information;

  • Information entered by participants contributing to a shared BranchLite experience;

  • Communications sent to us for customer support or other purposes; and

  • Other content voluntarily submitted through a BranchLite Service.

BranchLite does not require users to provide more information about a person than is reasonably necessary for the intended family-connection experience.

Information About Other People

BranchLite is different from many online services because users may enter information about family members or other people who are not themselves BranchLite users.

For example, a user may add the name or photograph of a parent, grandparent, cousin, child, deceased relative, or other person in order to show a family relationship.

If you provide personal information, photographs, or other content relating to another person, you are responsible for ensuring that you have an appropriate basis, permission, or authority to provide and use that information.

Please be respectful of the privacy of living individuals.

We strongly encourage users to use nicknames, limited information, or other privacy-conscious alternatives when full identifying information is unnecessary.

Information We Ask You Not to Provide

BranchLite is not designed to collect highly sensitive personal information.

Please do not enter information such as:

  • Social Security numbers;

  • Government identification numbers;

  • Bank account or credit card numbers;

  • Passwords or security credentials;

  • Detailed medical records;

  • Private financial information; or

  • Other highly sensitive information that is unnecessary to show a family connection.

If future BranchLite Services require additional categories of information, we may provide additional privacy disclosures applicable to those Services.

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you access BranchLite, certain technical information may be collected automatically by our systems or service providers. Depending on the Service, this may include:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address;

  • Browser type;

  • Device type;

  • Operating system;

  • Approximate technical location derived from an IP address;

  • Pages or features accessed;

  • Dates and times of access;

  • Error, diagnostic, and security information; and

  • Information necessary to maintain sessions, prevent abuse, and protect the Service.

We may use cookies, local storage, session identifiers, or similar technologies when reasonably necessary to operate BranchLite, remember settings, maintain authorized access, prevent abuse, or understand how the Services function.

If we introduce analytics, advertising technologies, or other tracking practices that materially change the information we collect, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

3. How We Use Information

We may use information collected through BranchLite to:

  • Provide and operate the BranchLite Services;

  • Create and display family connections, trees, visualizations, and related content;

  • Allow authorized participants to contribute to certain BranchLite Services;

  • Generate images, documents, exports, or other outputs requested by users;

  • Maintain host, participant, or administrative permissions;

  • Provide customer support;

  • Process upgrades, purchases, or other transactions;

  • Protect against misuse, fraud, unauthorized access, or security threats;

  • Diagnose technical problems and improve reliability;

  • Understand how BranchLite is being used;

  • Develop and improve BranchLite products and features;

  • Enforce our Terms of Use;

  • Comply with applicable legal obligations; and

  • Protect the rights, safety, security, and property of This Family Love LLC, our users, and others.

We do not use family information merely because it is available to us. Our goal is to use information for purposes reasonably related to providing, protecting, and improving the BranchLite Services.

4. Artificial Intelligence

BranchLite does not currently use artificial intelligence to analyze family tree content, photographs, relationships, or personal information submitted through the BranchLite Services.

If we introduce an AI-powered feature in the future that processes user-submitted personal or family information, we will evaluate the privacy implications of that feature and update our disclosures as appropriate before or when the feature is introduced.

The use of automated software for ordinary technical operations, such as formatting, calculations, file generation, security, or other deterministic computer processing, does not necessarily constitute the use of generative artificial intelligence.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may disclose information in limited circumstances, including the following.

Other Participants

Certain BranchLite Services are designed to allow family members or other invited participants to see or contribute to shared information.

Information placed in a shared tree, session, or other collaborative BranchLite experience may therefore be visible to people who have been given access.

Users should not treat a shared BranchLite tree or session as a place to store confidential information.

Service Providers

We may use third-party companies to help us operate BranchLite, such as providers of:

  • Website and application hosting;

  • Database or data storage services;

  • Security and infrastructure;

  • Email or communications;

  • Payment processing;

  • Analytics, if implemented; and

  • Technical support or monitoring.

These providers may process information only to the extent reasonably necessary to perform services for us, subject to applicable contractual and legal requirements.

Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law, legal process, court order, or governmental request;

  • Investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;

  • Enforce our agreements or policies;

  • Protect our legal rights or property; or

  • Protect the safety or rights of users or others.

Business Transactions

If This Family Love LLC or BranchLite is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law.

6. We Do Not Sell Personal Information

This Family Love LLC does not sell personal information collected through BranchLite.

We also do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising based on a person’s activities across unrelated websites or services.

If these practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any choices required by applicable law.

7. Private Links, QR Codes, and Shared Access

Certain BranchLite Services, including collaborative family-connection experiences, may use links, QR codes, PINs, or similar methods to provide access.

A person who receives or obtains an active access link, QR code, PIN, or similar credential may be able to access information associated with that BranchLite experience.

Hosts and participants are responsible for sharing access credentials only with appropriate people.

Do not publicly post a private BranchLite access link, QR code, PIN, or management link unless you intend the associated experience to be accessible to the people who may receive it.

Where available, BranchLite may provide different levels of access for hosts, participants, operators, or administrators.

8. Data Retention

We do not intend to keep family information indefinitely merely because it was submitted to BranchLite.

Retention periods may vary depending on the particular BranchLite Service, purchase, subscription, or feature.

For certain BranchLite family-connection sessions, our standard retention period may be up to 60 days after the last qualifying activity.

Certain paid Services or sessions may allow information to remain available for up to 180 days, unless another retention period is disclosed when the Service is purchased or used.

Qualifying activity may include actions such as:

  • Adding or editing family information;

  • Adding or changing photographs;

  • Changing relationships;

  • Host-directed changes;

  • An intentional export or download;

  • A purchase or upgrade; or

  • An authorized extension of the retention period.

Simply viewing a tree or leaving a page open may not extend the retention period.

When the applicable retention period expires, family content associated with the tree or session may be permanently deleted.

Different BranchLite products may use different retention periods. Where that occurs, the applicable period may be disclosed within the Service or at the time of purchase.

9. Ending a Session and Deleting Information

Ending or deactivating a BranchLite session does not necessarily mean that all associated data is immediately erased.

A session may first become inactive or inaccessible while remaining subject to the applicable retention period.

When content is permanently deleted from active BranchLite systems, we intend to remove the associated family content, including applicable names, relationships, photographs, and other tree information.

Limited information may be retained when reasonably necessary for:

  • Security;

  • Fraud prevention;

  • Legal compliance;

  • Transaction or accounting records;

  • Resolving disputes; or

  • Establishing or defending legal claims.

Deleted information may also remain temporarily in disaster-recovery or backup systems until those backups are overwritten or expire in the ordinary course.

10. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on the BranchLite Service and applicable law, you may be able to:

  • Correct information;

  • Remove individual information or photographs;

  • Delete family content;

  • End a session;

  • Request access to certain personal information;

  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information;

  • Request deletion of personal information; or

  • Request additional information about how personal information is handled.

Because family information may have been submitted by someone other than the person described in the tree, we may need additional information to evaluate or verify certain privacy requests.

To submit a privacy request, contact:

admin@branchlite.com

We may need to verify your identity or authority before fulfilling a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

11. California and Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of California and certain other U.S. states may have additional privacy rights under applicable state law.

Depending on the law and whether it applies to This Family Love LLC or the particular processing activity, these rights may include the right to:

  • Know or access personal information;

  • Correct inaccurate personal information;

  • Request deletion of personal information;

  • Obtain a portable copy of certain information;

  • Know categories of information collected, used, or disclosed;

  • Opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling activities; and

  • Exercise privacy rights without unlawful discrimination.

BranchLite does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Not every state privacy law applies to every company. Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to represent that This Family Love LLC is subject to a particular privacy statute when the statute does not apply.

Nevertheless, we may choose to honor reasonable privacy requests even where we are not legally required to do so.

California residents may submit privacy inquiries or requests to admin@branchlite.com.

12. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Other International Users

Privacy laws in some countries provide individuals with additional rights concerning their personal data.

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), United Kingdom GDPR, or another applicable privacy law applies to our processing, individuals may have rights that include:

  • Access to personal data;

  • Correction of inaccurate personal data;

  • Erasure of personal data in certain circumstances;

  • Restriction of processing;

  • Objection to certain processing;

  • Data portability where applicable;

  • Withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent; and

  • The right to lodge a complaint with an appropriate data protection authority.

Where applicable, our legal bases for processing personal data may include:

Performance of a contract: when processing is necessary to provide a BranchLite Service you requested.

Legitimate interests: when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, or protect BranchLite, provided those interests are not overridden by applicable individual rights.

Consent: when applicable law requires consent for a particular activity.

Legal obligations: when processing is necessary for compliance with applicable law.

BranchLite is operated by a United States company. Information submitted to BranchLite may therefore be processed or stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers of personal data, we will use appropriate mechanisms as required.

13. Children

BranchLite is currently designed as a general-audience family-connection service and is not directed to children under 13.

Family trees naturally may contain information about children. The inclusion of a child’s name, nickname, photograph, or family relationship in a family tree is different from the child independently creating an account or using BranchLite.

Adults who submit information or photographs concerning children should have appropriate authority or permission to do so and should consider using only the information reasonably necessary for the family-connection purpose.

Children under 13 should not independently submit personal information to BranchLite.

If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13 in circumstances requiring verified parental consent and such consent has not been obtained, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.

BranchLite may in the future offer features intended for schools, teachers, classrooms, families with children, or other youth-focused environments. Before introducing child-directed features or marketing, we intend to evaluate the applicable children’s privacy requirements and provide any additional notices, parental consent processes, or protections required by law.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to BranchLite inappropriately, please contact admin@branchlite.com.

14. Photographs and Images

Certain BranchLite Services allow users to upload photographs or other images.

You should upload photographs only when you have the right or appropriate permission to use them.

Photographs may reveal more information than a name alone. Consider carefully whether an image should be included before uploading it to a shared BranchLite experience.

BranchLite does not claim ownership of your photographs merely because you upload them to the Service. Rights concerning user-submitted content are addressed further in the BranchLite Terms of Use.

15. Information About Deceased Individuals

Family trees commonly contain information about deceased relatives.

Privacy laws do not treat information about deceased individuals identically in every jurisdiction. Nevertheless, we encourage users to treat family information respectfully regardless of whether the person is living or deceased.

Information concerning a deceased person may also reveal information about living relatives. Users should consider those privacy interests when adding family information.

16. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no internet service, database, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users also play an important role in protecting family information. In particular, users should protect private links, QR codes, PINs, management links, and other credentials used to access BranchLite.

If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will take steps appropriate to the circumstances and provide notifications when required by applicable law.

17. Payments

BranchLite may offer paid features, upgrades, subscriptions, services, or products.

Payment transactions may be processed by third-party payment processors.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, BranchLite does not intend to store complete payment card information on its own systems. Payment processors may collect and process payment information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

We may retain transaction-related information such as purchase status, product purchased, amount, date, transaction identifier, or other records reasonably necessary for accounting, customer service, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

18. Third-Party Websites and Services

BranchLite may contain links to third-party websites, products, services, partners, or resources.

This Privacy Policy applies to BranchLite and does not control the privacy practices of unrelated third parties.

We encourage users to review the privacy practices of third-party services before providing information to them.

19. Future BranchLite Products

BranchLite is intended to serve as a family of family-connection visualization tools.

This Privacy Policy is designed to apply generally to BranchLite Services, including BranchLite Gather.

Not every feature or data practice described in this Privacy Policy necessarily applies to every BranchLite product.

Future BranchLite products may have different features or privacy considerations. When appropriate, we may provide a product-specific privacy notice or supplemental terms explaining those differences.

If a product-specific privacy notice conflicts with this general Privacy Policy regarding that product, the more specific notice will govern for the matters it addresses.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as BranchLite develops, our business practices change, new products are introduced, or legal requirements change.

When we update the policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above.

If we make material changes to how we collect, use, or share personal information, we may provide additional notice when appropriate or required by law.

Your continued use of BranchLite after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective is subject to applicable law and the updated policy.

When contacting us about information contained in a BranchLite tree or session, please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant BranchLite Service or session without sending unnecessary sensitive personal information.

Our Privacy Approach

BranchLite exists to help people understand and visualize family connections—not to build advertising profiles about them.

Our privacy approach is therefore guided by several principles:

Collect less. We seek to collect only information reasonably necessary to provide the BranchLite experience.

Share thoughtfully. Family information should be shared intentionally with the people who are meant to see it.

Keep it only as long as needed. Family information should not remain on our systems indefinitely merely because someone once created a tree.

Give people reasonable control. Users should have practical ways to correct, remove, or request deletion of personal information where appropriate.

Respect the family. Family information can involve people who never personally used BranchLite. We expect users to consider the privacy of those people when deciding what information to add.
