Everything you need to know about building, sharing, and enjoying a BranchLite Gather family tree.
BranchLite Gather is a collaborative family-tree experience that lets relatives build a visual family tree together from their own devices.
BranchLite is the broader family of family-connection visualization tools. BranchLite Gather is the first BranchLite experience and is designed for families to build a tree together.
No. BranchLite Gather runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install.
Relatives who join a tree do not need to create an account. The Host starts and manages the tree.
No. BranchLite is designed to be easy enough for family members to contribute even if they have never built a family tree before.
Choose Get Started, begin your tree, and then share the invitation link or QR code with relatives you want to contribute.
Share the tree’s link or QR code. Relatives can open it on their phone, tablet, or computer and begin contributing.

Yes. BranchLite Gather is browser-based and is designed to work across phones, tablets, and computers.
People you share the tree or invitation link with can access the collaborative tree. Treat your tree link or QR code like an invitation and share it only with people you want participating.
BranchLite Gather is collaborative, so participants who join can contribute and make changes to the shared tree. Only invite people you trust to participate.
We recommend sharing the QR code or invitation link directly with the family members you want to participate rather than posting it broadly.
Avoid entering highly sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, financial information, passwords, or other information that does not belong in a family tree.
BranchLite handles information according to our Privacy Policy.

A Tree Pass is a one-time purchase that unlocks one tree beyond the free 10-person limit. No subscription is required for that tree.
No. Invited relatives do not need to purchase their own plan simply to contribute to a Host’s tree.
BranchLite Plus is intended for Family Champions who create and host multiple personal family trees. Plus includes unlimited personal trees while subscribed and additional Plus features.
Premium templates are planned as a Plus benefit. One-time Tree Pass users may be able to purchase premium templates separately as they become available.
